Unity Center Board Members come from all walks of life. Each person brings skills and talents to our work.
Gene A. Foehl, Esq.
Gene is a graduate of Gettysburg College (B.A. Business Administration) and Seton Hall Law School (JD). He has been a member of the Delaware County Bar since 1975 and is licensed to practice law in both Pennsylvania and Maryland. He served in the Army reserves, where he and fellow reservists began and ran an inner city basketball program in East Orange, NJ. Gene has served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Delaware County Bar Association, the Jaycees, and a national insurance company. He also was elected to the Springfield (Delco) School Board. Gene is the co-producer of Christmas Dreams, the Movie, which is to be released in 2017.
Besides leading Unity Center for the last thirty years, Gene has served his church and community in a wide of variety of venues. In 2013, Gene was recognized by both Delaware County Bar Association and Pennsylvania Bar Association for his life-long commitment to community service and serving the poor. He was the 2009 Chester Police Activities League Philanthropist of the Year. Gene is currently the Chairperson of the Community Outreach committee of the Delco Bar Association. Over the years, Gene has served on multiple church boards and ministries to numerous to mention. He is currently a member of Shrewsbury Episcopal Church.
Suzanne Straub Foehl
Suzanne is a graduate of Bridgewater College (B.A. English) and James Madison University (M.Ed. Counseling Psychology). Her career was in higher education with a concentration in student administration. A move to the Eastern Shore of Maryland gave her the opportunity to dabble in entrepreneurial activities. The capstone of her career was stepping into the nonprofit world for a ten year period developing fiscal and human resources. Grant writing, event planning and general cultivation of friends of the nonprofit community quickly became her loves.
She has been a member of the board since 2015.
Suzanne is married to Unity Center co-founder, Gene Foehl.
Rob Eyre, Esq.
Rob is an attorney with Foehl and Eyre, a minister and a community organizer.
Janet is a lifelong resident of Chester, having worked at Scott paper for many years.
She is very active in Thomas M.Thomas Church.
Burke Ward, Esq.
Burke is a Professor of Business Law and Taxation in the Villanova University School of Business. He also taught for 30 years in Masters of Taxation Program at Villanova Law School.
Burke is a graduate of Villanova University. He received his law degree from Seton Hall University Law School, and his LL.M. in Taxation from NYU Law School.
Burke has published extensively, and has practiced in the areas of estate and business planning, real estate and employment law. He has taught, lectured and spoken globally.
Nancy Hanson worked with the Coapstone Legacy Foundation and has vast knowledge regarding non profit and foundation prceedures.
Cherly has worked in Chester for many years, running her own catering business. She also teaches cooking and nutrution classes at Chester High School.
Bruce is Distribution Channel Manager for Agilent Technologies, a leader in life sciences, diagnostics and applied chemical markets providing laboratories worldwide with instruments, services, consumables, applications and expertise. Bruce, prior to joining Agilent, held leadership positions in Sales, Operations, and Logistics with VWR International, Thermo Fisher Scientific, and McKesson Corporation. Bruce has been a long time advocate for those less fortunate supporting Health, Educational, and Human Services both domestically and internationally. Bruce is married to his wife Susan, and is the proud parent and grandparent to 5 grown children and 8 grand children. He is a graduate of Widener University and volunteers at Widener with a focus on mentoring, networking, and leadership. He has been a member of the Unity Center Board since 2015.
Susan is an expert event planner
Ray has been a teacher with the Chester Upland School district for years and is now an assistant principal at Chester High School. He has run the Unity Center Youth Court program since its inception.
Nancy Server Thompson
Nancy is a specialist in music therapy.
Terry is a graduate of Drexel University BS in Business Administration. She has worked at IBM Corporation as a n IBM Systems Engineer, held positions of leadership in Women's Ministries, been elected to and served on the Springfield School Board and been the former Director of Frederick Douglass Christian School, Chester, PA. She is currently the CEO of Champions for Children LLC which provides consulting services to businesses and individuals regarding private and governmental scholarship and educational programs, as well as business and marketing programs. She is also is a lifeline resident of Delaware County.
Brian is a resident of Chester, graduate of Chester High School, formenr memeber of Unity Center's Youth Court program and an expert DJ.
